Cultivate - Exploring Algae in Agriculture
Cultivate
Give your students a real-world STEM experience they won’t forget!
Developed in partnership with USDA-NIFA and the National FFA Organization, Cultivate is a high-school level, hands-on, two-week program where classrooms become algae farms combining agriculture, data science, and innovation in one engaging curriculum.
Students step into the role of scientists and entrepreneurs as they:
- Explore algae’s emerging role in agriculture
- Learn about multiple methods of algae farming
- Get hands-on with experimental design and inoculate their own tabletop raceway ponds
- Calculate, graph, and analyze data
- Create and pitch an original algae-based product
Even better? Everything you need—curriculum, lab supplies, and live algae—is provided at no cost, making it easy to bring this experience straight to your classroom.
Join Cultivate!
Two sessions each year – Fall (October/November) and Spring (March/April).
